“Three-day training programme-cum Kisan Gosthi” on “Improved practices for remunerative kharif groundnut production” was conducted at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh from 28-30 June 2021 as a part of training series under the “Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsava– 75 years of celebration of Indian Independence”. The programme was conducted in both physical and virtual mode. A total of 166 farmers have participated in the event. Dr. Harish G (Scientist, Entomology) acted as the Convener of the Training program and Dr. Kiran Reddy (Scientist Soil science) and Dr. Kirti Rani (Scientist, Plant Breeding) acted as Co-conveners of the event. In this programme about 60
SC farmers from Vasapda village (28.06.21), 38 SC farmers from Ghatila village, 07 SC farmers from Achidra Village, 06 farmers from Bolas village, 03 farmers from Sukhpur village and 09 farmers from Chapari village (29.06.21) and 28 SC farmers from Rudalpur village and 15 SC farmers from Khadpipli village (30.06.21) of Junagadh district have participated in the training program. Many lectures were organized to sensitize the farmers about the current production technologies in groundnut. Dr. KK Pal (Principal Scientist, Microbiology and Chairman SCSP) gave the introductory remarks and explained about the beneficial role of biofertilizers in groundnut. Briefly the lectures were about the important varieties of groundnut for Saurashtra region, crop residue management in groundnut along with conservation agriculture, weed management, use of biostimulant and drip fertigation in groundnut. Importance of soil health cards, management of vertebrate pests, management of nutrient deficiencies, insect pests and diseases in groundnut were in detail explained to the farmers. Dr. AL Singh (Director, DGR) gave the concluding remarks at the end of the event. We also provided groundnut literature and distributed some agriculture related items (farm kits) under SCSP plan of DGR to improve the livelihood of these farmers. Overall the training program was a grand success
