79th Kharif IRC Meeting was held at ICAR-DGR Junagadh during 30-31st May, 2022

79th IRC Meeting (kharif IRC) of ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh was held during 30-31st May, 2022 in both physical and virtual mode under the chairmanship of Dr. C. S. Praharaj (A), ICAR-DGR, Junagadh. The meeting was attended by all the DGR Scientists from Junagadh Main Centre in physical mode and those from Regional centres at Bikaner and Anantapur in virtual mode. Many subject matter experts were also invited for the above meeting. The experts participated in IRC 2022 included Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, ADG (O&P); Dr. Chittaranjan Kole, Former Vice Chancellor, BCKVV, Mohanpur; Dr. I. U. Dhruj, former ADR, Junagadh Agril. University, Junagadh and Member RAC, ICAR-DGR; Dr. Tapan Mondal, Professor, NIPB, New Delhi; Dr Radhakrishnan T., former Director, ICAR-DGR, Junagadh; Dr. P. S. Basu, former Head, Basic Sciences Unit, ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur; Dr. YS Yenagi, PI Crop Production (AICRP on Groundnut), and Dr. K Vemana, PI Crop Protection (AICRP on Groundnut).

The meeting started by welcoming of the Experts and Scientists of ICAR-DGR by Dr. C. S. Praharaj, Director (A) followed by discussions and deliberations on various agenda items including Review of In-house Projects. During the two-day deliberations, the research achievements of various projects undertaken during 2021 kharif season were discussed in detail and the plan of work for the ensuing kharif 2022 season were finalized. There were also deliberations on ATRs of last QRT, RAC, AICRP on Groundnut, IRC Kharif 2021 and Seed Production Meeting to address some of the important issues through IRC 2022. The experts interacted with the DGR scientists and gave suggestions/recommendations for the improvements of the ongoing research activities at ICAR-DGR including the development of crossing programs for groundnut and its seed production and constitution of a panel for formulation of guidelines for promotion of new entries. Thus, the 79th IRC meeting was held successfully in shaping the future course of research work on Groundnut at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh.

The Meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair by Dr. Rinku Dey, Member Secretary, IRC.
