One day “Farmers orientation cum Training programme on High Oleate groundnut Girnar-4 and Girnar-5 seed production and Felicitation of Farmers” was held at ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh. More than 65 Farmers from Saurashtra region of Gujarat who were involved in seed production of Girnar 4 and Girnar 5 were present for the training program. Our Chief Guest, Smt. Geetaben Parmar, Mayor, Junagadh Municipal Corporation, Junagadh graced the occasion and addressed the gathering. She advised the farmers to take the benefit of Girnar-4 and Girnar-5 groundnut varieties developed by ICAR-DGR. She also said that ICAR-DGR is an Institution of repute and working on cause of groundnut farmers. She also advocated that she will take the initiatives for further growth of the Institute at higher level. Key Speakers Dr. K. L. Dobariya, Former Principal Groundnut Breeder, Main Oilseeds Research Station, JAU, Junagadh delivered lecture on “Overview of Groundnut seed production techniques and Mechanization in Groundnut”. Dr. J. B. Patel, Professor and Head, Department of Seed Science & Technology, JAU, Junagadh delivered lecture on “Groundnut quality seed production, constraints and remedies”. Dr. N. D. Dholaria, Assistant Research Scientist, JAU, Junagadh delivered lecture on “Recent advances in groundnut seed production techniques and Mechanization in Groundnut”. Dr. S. K. Bera, Director, ICAR- Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh delivered concluding remarks on the occasion. Progressive farmers shared their experience on Girnar 4 and Girnar 5 seed production. Farmers were happy with the performance of the varieties and its seed production. Six Farmers Vimalbhai Sojitra, Bhupatbhai Sojitra, Arvindbhai Kachadiya, Jentibhai Gajipara, Mansukhbhai Dolariya and Bhaveshbhai Gadiya were felicitated during the event for achieving higher yields in Girnar-4 and Girnar-5 in their fields during Kharif-2022
