ICAR-DGR has conducted a one-day training programme cum Kisan Goshthi on “Good agricultural practices for high groundnut production” for Scheduled Tribes (ST) farmers under ICAR-DGR TSP programme on 19th May 2023. About 260 farmers from 13 villages participated in the event. Dr. KK Reddy, Scientist, Soil science acted as organizer of the event. Dr. Aaradhana Chilwal., Scientist, Agronomy introduced the speakers, guests and acted as host of the event. The programme was kick started with lightning lamp and introductory remarks by Sh. PV Zala, CTO. Chief Guest of the Event was Deputy Mayor, JMC, Shri. Girishbhai Kotecha. Guest of honor, Dr. H.C. Chhodvadia, Associate Director of Extension Education, JAU, addressed the farmers to go for diversified mixed cropping to reap the increased net returns. Dr. J.B. Patel, Professor and Head, Div. of SS&T, JAU, gave lecture on quality groundnut seed production, Dr. Praveen Kona, scientist, Plant Breading highlighted the importance of high oleic groundnut. Dr. N.D. Dholariya, Assoc. Res. Scientist, MORS, JAU gave guidance to farmers on good agricultural practices for groundnut production. Dr. SK Bera, Director, ICAR-DGR stressed upon the use of improved cultivars, crop protection and production technologies to realize higher income At the end of the programme, farmers were distributed with farming kits, pamphlets and extension materials.
