The 23rd Meeting of the Research Advisory Committee of ICAR-DGR was held at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh during 26-27th March 2022 in hybrid mode. The meeting was chaired by Dr. A. Bandyopadhyay, Former National Coordinator, NAIP, ICAR, New Delhi. The RAC members included Dr. IU Dhruj, Former ADR, JAU, Junagadh, Dr Sanjeev Gupta, ADG (O&P), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr BB Singh, Former ADG (O&P), ICAR, New Delhi), Dr. PB Kirti, Former Professor, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, Dr LM Garnayak, Former Dean, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Shri Mahendrabhai Pithiya, Progressive Farmer, Talala, Gir-Somnath, Shri Vrajlalbhai Hirpara, Progressive Farmer, Junagadh, Dr CS Praharaj, Director (A), ICAR-DGR, Junagadh and Dr. S. K. Bera, PS, Member Secretary. The Hon’ble RAC members namely, Dr Sanjeev Gupta, ADG (O&P) and Dr. PB Kirti, Former Professor, UOH attended the Meeting in Virtual Mode.

The meeting started with the welcome address by the Member Secretary, RAC and was followed by the detailed presentation by Dr. CS Praharaj, Director (A), ICAR-DGR, Junagadh who outlined the Groundnut situation in the country and the research programmes being carried out in the Directorate and the major achievements made so far. This was followed by presentation of the Action Taken Report on the recommendations of the last meeting held during 4-5th September 2020 by the Member Secretary. Work done reports of the ongoing projects were presented on 26-03-2022 by the respective PIs before the expert committee of RAC for extensive discussion/deliberations. The RAC also suggested/offered comments/modifications, if any on the ongoing research programs for further improvement. The RAC members also visited the Gene Bank facilities, Wild Arachis species maintained in the field and all the ongoing field experiments carried out during spring/summer 2022 on 27.03.2022.
