Farmers’  Awareness  Campaign-cum-Kisan  Goshti  on  “Balanced  use  of  fertilizers”  was celebrated at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh on 18 June 2021.  Total No. of Participants was 60 including

42 farmers from Manketra, Inaaz, Dhrabawad, Chitri and Vadala Villages of Junagadh. Dr. Rinku Dey (Chairperson of the event) gave the details of the event and introduced the speakers of the event. Director, DGR (Dr. AL Singh) gave the opening remarks and highlighted the need for judicious use of fertilizers for improved nutrient use efficiency. The chief Guest of the event was  Dr.  Narendra  Kumar Gontia, Principal  and  Dean,  College of Agri.  Engineering,  JAU, Junagadh. Dr. NK Gontia highlighted the importance of soil and water management in enhancing the partial factor productivity of the nutrients applied. The distinguished guest speaker of the event was Dr. SG Savaliya, Professor and Head, Dept. of Soil Science, JAU, Junagadh. Dr. SG Savaliya explained about the different forms of fertilizers to be used, their application rates according to the soil test values in different cropping systems. Dr. KK Pal (Principal Scientist, Microbiology) explained about the different biofertilizers developed at ICAR-DGR which can be used under drought, salinity and low nutrient conditions. Dr. Sushmita (scientist, Plant Physiology) explained about the importance of different nutrient elements in groundnut growth and development. Dr. Kiran Reddy (Scientist, Soil science) explained about the importance of soil health cards and the process of  soil sampling. Dr. Rajanna GA (Scientist, Agronomy) explained about the benefits of Drip fertigation and explained in detail about the different type’s fertilizers  to  be  used  in  drip  ferigation.  Dr.  Raja  Ram  Choudhary  (Scientist,  Agronomy) explained about different techniques for effective crop residue management. Finally, Dr. KK Reddy gave the vote of thanks and the event was grand success. Farm Kit distribution was done to the SC famers at the end of the event
