Training programme for farm women organized at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh from 03-05th March, 2020

To empower woman farmers especially involved in groundnut cultivation the ICAR-DGR organized a three-day training programme on “Improved production technologies of summer groundnut for Saurashtra” from 03-05th March, 2020. Twenty-six woman farmers from Junagadh district had participated in this training programme. Interactive lectures on different aspects of groundnut cultivation were arranged during this training programme viz. principles of seed production in groundnut and varieties recommended for Gujarat, high oleic groundnut varieties, different Gujarat government schemes related to agriculture, improved agronomic practices, integrated diseases and pests management, application of bio-fertilizer, confectionery groundnut varieties, soil health management, micronutrient management, human health benefits of groundnut and aflatoxin contamination management practices. In addition to lectures, exposer visit to farm section, groundnut field, gene bank and labs visits were also arranged for the farmers. A training manual in Gujarati language was also provided to the farmers.

A three days (22-24 January, 2020) farmers training organized at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh

Farmers training programme on “Improved production technologies of groundnut for Gujarat” was organized at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh from 22-24 January, 2020. Twenty five farmers including woman farmers (13) from Mithapur village of Junagadh district had participated in this training programme. Lectures on different aspects related to groundnut were arranged during training programme viz. principles of seed production in groundnut and varieties recommended for Gujarat, high oleic groundnut varieties, improved agronomic practices, integrated diseases and pests management, application of bio-fertilizer, confectionery groundnut varieties, soil health management, micronutrient management, human health benefits of groundnut and aflatoxin contamination management practices. In addition to this, exposer visit to farm section, gene bank and labs were also arranged for farmers. A training manual of delivered lectures in Gujarati language was also prepared and provided to the farmers. This training programme was organized by Dr. Narendra Kumar, Course Director; Dr. Chandramohan Sangh and Dr. Praveen Kona, Coordinators of this training programme. During inaugural session, Dr. Radhakrishnan T., Director, ICAR-DGR addressed that this directorate will support all farmers through providing latest groundnut technologies with aim to increase productivity. He also mentioned to cultivate new improved varieties which meet demands of industries and to establish private-public partnership focused to fetch high premium price to the farmers. During concluding session, Dr. AL Singh, Principal Scientist and in-charge Director mentioned the importance of soil, water and micronutrient management in groundnut. The training programme was concluded with certificate distribution to the farmer participants followed by vote of thanks.
